Secondo Deadline, Netflix in collaborazione con Blu Ant Media-run Smithsonian Canada, avrebbe inserito nella sua programmazione Age of Samurai. Descritto come un vero e proprio Game of Thrones del Giappone feudale, la serie racconterà la storia delle guerre tra i vari regni di quell’epoca.
Stando alle anticipazioni, il focus della serie sarà la figura di Date Masamune, famoso samurai anche noto come One-Eyed Dragon. Egli combatté al fianco dei tre padri fondatori del Giappone, signori della guerra che guidarono feroci eserciti di samurai l’uno contro l’altro. Scopo di queste guerre era l’unificazione della nazione circa 400 anni fa.
La figura epica di Date Masamune, la cui leggenda racconta di aver perso un occhio infettato dal vaiolo da bambino, è protagonista in questa serie tv. Dopo aver ucciso il fratello minore, succedette come capo del clan al padre a soli 17 anni.
Conquistando anche i clan vicini, Date Masamune cominciò l’ascesa al potere per unificare il giappone settentrionale sotto il suo controllo.

He fought alongside the three founding fathers of Japan, warlords who led fierce samurai armies against one another. The purpose of these wars was the unification of the nation about 400 years ago.
The epic figure of Date Masamune, whose legend tells of having lost an eye infected with smallpox as a child, is the protagonist. Furthermore, after killing his younger brother, he succeeded his father as clan leader when he was only 17 years old.
Also conquering the neighboring clans, Date Masamune began the rise to power to unify northern Japan under his control.
